Optima Engineering provided Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and Technology engineering services for CompuCom’s new 150,000 SF, three-story global headquarters and contact center operations facility. Designed as a cutting-edge Class A office building, the headquarters serves as one of the industry’s most advanced smart buildings, leveraging Internet of Things (IoT) technology to seamlessly connect, automate, and monitor building systems throughout the facility.
The building integrates heating, cooling, lighting, power, water, communications, security, elevators, fitness equipment, kitchen systems, and environmental sensors into a unified digital platform, enhancing operational efficiency and occupant experience. Notably, the facility became the world’s first digital building to feature 100% Power over Ethernet (PoE) lighting, utilizing a sophisticated network of PoE switches, dimming controls, and occupancy sensors to optimize energy performance. Additional sustainable features include sensor-operated plumbing fixtures designed to reduce water consumption and dedicated uninterruptible power supply systems supporting critical communications and security infrastructure. The result is a highly connected, future-focused workplace that showcases the potential of smart building technology.
